I am here writing as I think what is going to happen to me in next days or weeks or months. I am an employee of the now INFAMOUS Satyam Computer Services Ltd.
Life till 15th Dec last month was gr8 for me. I was working on Project and was happy with the way life was going in general. And then Mr.Raju and his cohorts took the decision of screwing the life of himself and around 52998 other ppl like me. The Maytas deal was rejected and this had started going haywire.
Rumors started coming up everyday of imminent take overs and mergers. It was Reliance on some days, IBM on others, Accenture and Capgemini on some other days.. Uncertainty in my colleagues was increasing.. Discussion at the water cooler, which used to be about new projects had now changed to what will happen, who will stay , who might have to part ways......
The Year 2008 ended on a note of sadness, gloom and with a big question mark in all our lives.
With the dawn of 2009, Slowly though, things were starting to look better, we were thinking the worst was over and we would get on track. Project were coming and People were getting news of travel onsite. And then on D-Day(7th of Jan,2009), yes, I will call it D-day,Things went for a complete 180degrees.. I was in a meeting and got a SMS that Mr. Ramalingam Raju had resigned, next we saw the mail nay his resignation letter detailing his mis-deeds.
The World at that moment had come to a standstill as I read the letter. The news was slowly sinking that the end seems near now. My Managers and there superiors organized conference calls to pacify us and inform us that things will be on track soon, but everyone knew, it was a battle that we were going to lose.
Today on 10th Jan, I am still trying to figure out the implications not on Satyam as an Organization but on me...A person who worked for close to 4 yrs with this company, who at 30 is the sole earning member in my family, who has a home loan to pay and possibly no job by the end of the month.
Now, with Mr.Pai saying he wont be hiring ppl from my company and most likely all companies following the same line more or less and to add to our woes the Indian IT Market not exactly being bullish. Can anyone tell me, what is my fault? What do I do? Where will I go from here?I see no light at the end of the tunnel........
If there is someone out there who has answers and not consoling words please reply... else I dont need your words to tell me things will be fine.
